The Level Volunteer Fire Company's banquet hall serves the Level community near Havre de Grace. Its restrooms were showing their age: small tan floor tile, tan and green wall tile with a brown stripe, beige stall partitions, and fluorescent tube lights.
We remodeled them. When we shared the finished rooms on September 2, we described the goal simply: "a cleaner, more modern feel built to serve the community for years to come."

What changed
Side by side, the photos show the updates in both rooms:
- Floors. The small tan tile gave way to a speckled gray floor.
- Walls. Large-format tile now runs up the lower walls, finished with a mosaic accent band, and the walls above are painted a deep gray.
- Stall partitions. Black partitions with bright hardware replaced the beige stalls.
- Vanities. New vanities pair a wood-grain base with a stone-look countertop.
- Lighting. Slim new fixtures replaced the old fluorescent tubes.
- Accessories. New wall-mounted paper towel dispensers.
The result is two restrooms that feel clean and current, the way a community hall should.
Why restrooms are worth updating
In any building the public uses, restrooms shape how people feel about the whole space. Dated tile and worn partitions make even a clean room look tired, and guests notice. Updating them is one of the most visible improvements a hall, church, office, or small business can make.
Restrooms are also a contained project. The work stays in two rooms, which makes it easier to plan around a building's schedule than a larger renovation.
